February 24, 2004--Growing up in the heart of L.A. as a semi-typical Hollywood Kid, Rachel had alot of friends in both the Music and Movie Industries and began creating Wild, One-Of-A-Kind Clothes for alot of them. When somebody needed something completely unique and personalised they knew right away who to call. Being inspired at an early age by 60's and 70's Rock and Roll, Antique Quilts that tell a story, and Clowns in the Circus, Rachel's Clothes are all One-Of-A-Kind and made especially for each person to fit their particular personality.
Using a mix of Old and New fabrics Rachel creates Hand Appliqued Jeans and Jackets, Pillows, Yoga Mat Bags and Quilts.
Rachel's clients know that every piece she creates will be especially made only for them.
Natasha Weir, Wife of Grateful Dead Guitarist Bob Weir, had Rachel make her Baby Daughter, who refused to put Pajamas on, a fun and interactive pair of P.J's out of 2 of her favorite cashmere Sweaters, with little flaps and pockets that revealed a Teddy Bear, a Hula Girl, and some Balloons. Some clients bring her piles of Old Clothes with Sentimental value ( Baby Clothes, articles of clothing that once belonged to a favorite relative that has since passed away..)and she turns them into something to wear or a Pillow or Quilt.
When Comedianne and Singer, Michele Rundgren, Wife of Todd, needed something special for her Son ReBop to wear to his Sister, Liv Tyler's Wedding in New York she called upon Rachel to design something befitting a future Rock Star.
Rachel just finished a Custom Order for a "Baby Buddha" Outfit for Liv Tyler's New Baby Boy, Milo Langdon.
Rachel made a jacket for her brother, Actor Joseph Culp, out of his favorite old clothes from childhood that were too torn to wear but he couldn't part with. The Coat consists of pieces of his favorite flannel shirt circa age 14, a gold silk bowling shirt, the inner lining has pieces of a T-Shirt that belonged to their Mother, and the Jacket sleeves are covered in a Kama Sutra tapestry that used to hang from the ceiling of his room at boarding school. It has since become a "memorial" Jacket masterpiece! A personal wearable poem of disaffected youth!
Rachel designed Costumes for Drummer Prairie Prince who just finished touring with Todd Rundgren supporting the release of Todd's latest CD, Liars. The Costumes were Rachel's unique version of what a Pope should wear. Really Wild.
Rachel has lived in L.A., Chicago, Marin County and is now residing mainly in Howell, Michigan with her Husband of 20 years, Photographer and Web Designer , Danny O'Connor , whom she met as a teenager standing in line for a Todd Rundgren Concert at The Roxy in L.A. at the tender age of 15.
